The Fort Smith Public Library has many resources that might be helpful to companies and business owners.  Whether it is keeping up with the latest business trends, researching new opportunities, or looking for options for growing a business, the library can help. 

Meeting and Study Rooms

Study rooms and meeting rooms are available at all library locations.  Study rooms are ideal  for individuals and small groups.  Click here for more information.

For larger groups, library meeting rooms offer space for groups ranging in size from 5 to 100.  LCD projectors, laptop computers, microphones, and other technology are available in the rooms if needed.  Charges may apply for equipment or special room setups  Click here for more information and to reserve a meeting room. 

Catering for meetings both inside and outside the library is available from Dewey’s Café at the Main Library.

Print Resources Available at the Main Library

The library has subscriptions to many major business resources such as Businessweek, Forbes, and Money.  Current issues are available for reading in the library, and back issues may be checked out.  The library also subscribes to Barron’s, Wall Street Journal, Arkansas Business, and several other national and local newspapers. 

The library offers online access to The New York Times. Within the library, visit The New York Times website and create an account or log into your account for access.  Outside the library, visit this link to access The New York Times for 72 hours.  You will receive an email confirming your 72-hour access.  You can access this link as often as needed.

For investment research, the library has a print subscription to ValueLine.  In addition, the library has hundreds of books on a wide range of business topics such as investing, personal finance, software, small businesses, real estate, human resources, team-building, leadership, and business law including sample legal forms and incorporation. 

Technology Resources

Digital scanner – Need to scan photos, identification cards, or other documents? The Main Library offers access to a computer with a digital scanner attached. In addition, library photocopiers at all locations will scan documents and photos. Scanner access is free and no library card is required.  Bring a USB flash drive to save your scanned images.  The library has flash drives for sale for $5.

Internet computers – Internet-accessible computers are available at all locations.  Internet sessions last an hour.  Additional time is available if no one is waiting.  Computers are available on a first come, first served basis and may not be reserved in advance.  All Internet users must agree to abide by the Fort Smith Public Library’s Computer and Internet Usage Policy.

Fax services -- Public faxing is available at all four library locations.  The fee to send or receive a fax is $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.  There is no charge for a cover page.  Faxes may only be sent to U.S. phone numbers.  International faxing is not available.

Printers and photocopiers – Black and white photocopiers and black and white and color printers are available.  Black and white copies and prints are $.25/page.  Color prints are $1/page. 

Wi-Fi – Free high-speed wireless Internet is available free at all library locations.  No library card or password is required.  All Wi-Fi users must agree to abide by the library’s Wi-Fi policy.

Wireless printing –Have a document on your mobile device or laptop that you need to print?  The Reference Department at the Main Library offers wireless printing.   Click here and follow the instructions to send your print job wirelessly.

Chronicling America

Search America's historic newspaper pages from 1789-1963 or use the U.S. Newspaper Directory to find information about American newspapers published between 1690-present. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress.

Fort Smith Digitized Newspapers

Fully digitized and searchable images of Fort Smith newspapers from 1848 to December 31, 1970 are currently available.  In addition, some issues of Entertainment Fort Smith magazine, Lincoln Echo newspaper, and Fortnightly Club archives are also available. More dates will be added to the collection as funding allows.
