Donate Now vs Legacy Donation
Annual donations assist with providing the library financial needs in the short term such as providing the funds to purchase all the Youth Services materials.
Legacy donations perpetuate the growth of the endowment for the long term with major gifts, wills and trust, and planned giving.
Carnegie Society
The name “Carnegie Society” pays tribute to the Fort Smith Public Library’s rich history and beginnings in 1908 as the Carnegie City Library, funded in large part by a grant from steel magnate Andrew Carnegie’s foundation.
Established in 2010, the Endowment’s Carnegie Society is composed of person who have chosen to include the FSPL Endowment Trust in their estate plan or have made a substantial gift to the Endowment.
Through their membership, Carnegie Society members demonstrate their support for and commitment to the stability and future growth of our public library.
Provisions in an estate plan can include a Charitable Bequest for the Library included in a will. Individuals should consult an attorney to adapt the language to individual circumstances as part of their overall estate plan.
