Films featuring black actors or directors will be shown at 2 p.m. each Friday in February. This week's film is Carmen Jones, a musical drama directed by Otto Preminger based on the Broadway adaptation of Bizet's opera Carmen. Starring Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte, the film reimagines the classic tale with an all-black cast. Set in mid-20th-century America, it explores themes of love, jealousy, and tragedy. This film was released in 1954 and is not rated. 105 minutes.
