Money Smart Week
April 4-11, 2020 is Money Smart Week! Eight years ago, the American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago teamed up to create Money Smart Week – a national public education program that promotes financial literacy. Last year, libraries in all 50 states participated by providing information and programming designed to help people learn how best to save, spend, and invest. Financial education is important at every age.
There are several programs being offered at the Fort Smith Public Library during Money Smart Week, that are geared toward teaching children and teenagers about money! The Miller Branch will be hosting a Cupcake Shop on Tuesday, April 7th at 3:30 p.m. for preschool and school aged children. April 6-9th, school aged children and teenagers can earn “library bucks” that can then be exchanged for actual Bitcoin at the Dallas Branch's Bucks for Bitcoin. The Main Library is teaming up with First National Bank of Fort Smith and offering a Dollars and Sense Storytime for preschool and school aged children on Wednesday, April 8th at 4:00 p.m.
We hope that you’ll join the Fort Smith Public Library as we promote financial literacy during Money Smart Week!
