Meet Your New Teen Specialist

Meet Your New Teen Specialist

We are pleased to announce that Miss Leah will be the Main library's new teen specialist. She will be taking over Teen Lounge, STEAM Team, and LEGO Club.

Leah has a passion for adventure, and a strong desire to learn something new everyday. She hopes to encourage and inspire teens to fully explore themselves and the vast world around them. Her aim is to provide an inclusive, fun, and safe environment for teens to relax, get creative, and socialize. All teens are welcome to join Leah's programs, all aimed to promote literacy and confidence.

Leah graduated with a degree in Theatre and has lived all over the U.S. She has previously worked with aquatic life at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, and will be pursuing her MS in Animal and Environmental Studies later this year.

Leah's latest YA read is none other than Leah on the Offbeat, by Becky Albertalli (and no, it's not an autobiography!).

When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. It’s hard for Leah to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting—especially when she realizes she might love one of them more than she ever intended. Be sure to check it out and see what happens!

Please stop by the Youth Services desk at the Main library and introduce yourself to Miss Leah.
