Support the Friends of the Library
Join the Friends
The Friends of the Library are people like you who believe in and support the Fort Smith Public Library as a valuable community resource. The Friends is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds through its membership and book sales to provide programming, materials, and equipment that fall outside the regular budget allocations of the library.
If you are interested in volunteering at a Friends of the Library sponsored library program, in Between the Pages Book Shop, or at the book sales, please let us know when filling out the Friends of the Library membership form.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Fort Smith Public library, please fill out the volunteer application form.
The library gladly accepts books and other materials, or donations for the purchase of materials, so that the public has access to items the library might not otherwise be able to purchase.
Gift books or other materials need to meet the same criteria as other additions to the collection and are integrated into the regular library collection for use by all library users. Donated materials that do not meet the needs of the library will be sold at the Friends of the Library book sales. Proceeds from the sales are used to buy new materials or equipment for the library.
Visit the online Library Store to browse our selection of used books for sale. Books on a variety of topics including art, religion, history, local interest, and much more are available, with publication dates ranging from the 1800s to the present. Proceeds from the Library Store are used to buy library materials and fund library special events and projects.
Between the Pages Book Shop
The Between the Pages Book Shop is located underneath the stairs at the Main Library. Operated by the Friends of the Library, the shop offers top quality used fiction and non-fiction books and DVDs at a fraction of their original retail price. Proceeds from the shop are used to buy library materials and fund library special projects, programs, and events. For location and hours, please visit the Between the Pages Book Shop page.
