Program Description

Program Description

It’s the Year of the Dragon, and you’re invited to a Lunar New Year celebration at the Main Library with special guest, The Noble 8 Lion Dance group! Lion dance represents joy and happiness, and it has been said that its main purpose was to scare evil spirits away and to bring good luck all year long.

The lion dance is a traditional Chinese dance that has spread to the East Asian cultural sphere, using percussive instruments as well as a vibrant lion to entertain an audience. The Noble 8 Lion Dance group is dedicated to keeping the lion dance alive in the greater Fort Smith region as well as other areas in Arkansas.

You won't want to miss this special event!
