Local author Samuel William Pickle will appear at the Main Library to promote and sign copies of his two westerns, The Man from the Nueces Strip, and Legacy of a Texas Cowboy: Taming the Wyoming Territory, and his work of historical fiction, The Seahorse: A Ship of Opportunity.

Samuel William Pickle was born one of five children in rural LeFlore County Oklahoma, and grew up working on the family farm.  Drafted into the army, he joined the air force after serving out his army enlistment, and retiring after 21 years of service.  Pickle followed up his military career with teaching career, both as an educator and Superintendent of Schools in Arkansas, retiring in 1996. Copies of his book will be available for sale and signing at the event.
