Authors in the Afternoon with Jeffrey Abernathy

Local author Jeffrey Abernathy will appear at the Main Library to promote and sign copies of his new book, The Order of the 66.  The novel is a dystopian Christian fiction story about a future where the world has reached its population capacity, where the government decides who can have children through a national lottery. Rhett, the main character, polices this world, delivering quick and harsh consequences for violators of the law. When Rhett gets news that puts him at odds with his work and his family, will he follow his heart and risk his life by defying the law of the land, or fall in line with what is expected of him? Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing at the event.

Jeffrey Abernathy is a Christian author from the Fort Smith, Arkansas area. He is an Army veteran, having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the Army, he was a manager for Walmart for 15 years. He now teaches Middle School History in Fort Smith. He also pastored Calvary Baptist Church in Abbott Arkansas for seven years.
