Library2Go Now Has Downloadable Ebooks AND Audio!

Library statistics indicate to us that you have been checking out the Downloadable Audiobooks that have been available from the Fort Smith Public Library (in co-operation with the Arkansas River Valley Regional Library, the Bentonville Public Library, the Crawford County Library System, the Pope County Library System, the Rogers Public Library -- and NOW, the Fayetteville Public Library!) for the past few months. Yes, with YOUR FSPL Library card, you have been downloading audiobooks to your home PC (for listening on your computer or a digital audio device or, in some cases, on a CD) -- and feedback from our customers indicate that you have been downloading, listening, AND enjoying them!
NOW, for something new: the Fort Smith Public Library is pleased to be able to offer you yet another NEW service from Overdrive: you can download ebooks to READ on your PC or on MOST ebook readers. Overdrive lists the Barnes and Nobles Nook and several Sony Readers as compatible devices; those devices listed as NOT compatible with Overdrive EPUB AND PDF files include the Kindle and the iPad, unfortunately!
However, Overdrive has just recently added a new iTunes "app" enabling you to wirelessly download MP3 audiobooks directly to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This means that you can listen to audiobooks but cannot read eBooks on your iPad. If you would like the iTunes app, just search for "OverDrive Media Console" in the Apple App Store...and like all OverDrive audiobook apps, this app is free.
